Judge for yourself:

Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Evangelism is sharing the good news about Jesus. Discipling is teaching a believer how to live his life.

If these things are never attempted they will never happen. Never let fear keep you from doing the will of God in this world!

Mark 16:15-18 And He said to them, “ Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.

I read the an article today on Charisma Magazines website. The article mentions the suicide attempt of the 15 year old daughter of a celebrity and deceptively attempted to link it to her spiritual beliefs. People attempt to take their lives when the pain they are suffering is unbearable. There is no quote from this child or her family that would justify Charisma’s conclusion. The article is simply capitalizing on this young girls pain for the benefit of the magazine.

This is not Goldy behavior. It is deceptive and our God has no part of deception. If Charisma wishes to discuss doctrine they should do so openly instead of sensationalizing this child’s pain. I am not affiliated with or a member of the church mentioned, nor do I intend to be; however, I do recognize evil when I see it. Brothers and sisters we must never lie in an attempt to further God’s work. Deception is a lie and we know the enemy is the father of lies. Be very careful to know who it is you are serving with your words.

Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things which the Lord hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him:… Continue reading

I just had a thought. Actually, I’m sure it was God speaking to me because I am not this smart on my own.

There are three reasons never to argue church doctrine with members of other churches.

1. You could be wrong. You do not know everything there is to know and be revealed from scripture. (If you think you do, you have bigger problems than this to contend with.)

2. You are supposed to have patience and show love for others. Remember there was a time that you knew less about the scriptures than the person you are arguing with.

3. We are told not to cast our pearls among the swine.

Calm discussion and debate of doctrine is good and enlightening for both parties; however, arguing about which doctrine is correct serves no useful purpose. If you find yourself angry, frustrated, indignant, or feel the need to “win” in such a discussion one of the above three points will apply.

I received this email today. Instead of rewriting it I will copy it here:

Dear Jim,

I know all your hearts have been touched as you’ve witnessed the devastation in Moore, Oklahoma, caused by this massive EF5 tornado that struck on May 20. Our prayers are with all those people, and like many of you, I also want to do something physical to help.

Recently I reconnected with a man who’s been my friend for thirty years who can help us all do something tangible. Dr. Denny Nissley and his ministry, Christ in Action (CIA), began ministering in 1982. His first disaster relief effort was in 1998 at a flood in Cuero, Texas. They even helped in 1999 when a tornado hit Oklahoma in nearly the exact same spot as this one. And they’ve been to many disasters since, including Hurricane Sandy. They are one of the first ones the government calls to bring in on-the-ground help. In fact, after serving over 420,000 meals and helping rebuild over 500 homes following Hurricane Katrina, the White House asked CIA to organize faith-based groups to supply disaster relief. Christ in Action is a seasoned and recognized ministry that we can trust.

The strength of faith requires experience. Have you ever stood on a promise of God in faith? Maybe for healing, for financial help, or even a spiritual gift like prophecy? If you have not your faith has not grown.

Faith is more than choosing to believe in something you cannot see. Faith is not a roll of the dice. Those with little faith say that spiritual gifts and miracles do not occur today or they say you cannot know the will of God.

Paul wrote to be transformed by the renewing of the mind so you KNOW the will of God. Would Paul write this if you could not know God’s will? Obviously it is possible and the Lord is more than willing to share His will with you. Scripture also says God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The nature and will of God do not change. If spiritual gifts were available to the first apostles they are available to us today.

It is also written to covet spiritual gifts, especially prophecy. To work in spiritual gifts you must desire them and pursue them. Miracles do occur today and Prophecy is spoken today. It is the will of… Continue reading

Are you frustrated with your church? Do you feel like neither you or your church are growing? If so then it’s time to take a hard look at your spiritual life. How much time do you spend in prayer, in the scripture, and in fellowship? When was the last time you invited an unbeliever to your church?

We are accountable for our own spiritual growth and every member is responsible for the growth of his church.

Which come first faith or works? Both James and Paul addressed this issue in the New Testament. Paul addressed those who thought their own works could earn them salvation while James addressed others who had no works and likely did not belong to Christ at all.

Paul’s letter to Galatians addressed a church who was beginning to attempt to work their way into salvation. The point Paul was making was that their is nothing you can add to the sacrifice of Jesus to earn salvation. Trying to earn your way into God’s grace dismisses the suffering of the Lord and leaves a person to stand on their own works which can never save them.

While Paul was absent from Galatia a group of people began to shame members of the Church because they were not circumcised. This group called Judaizers convinced many of the Galatians that unless they were circumcised they could not belong to God’s kingdom. Modern day Judaizers teach similar doctrines. They entice an unbeliever to come to the church and God will accept them as they are, but in time they convince them they have to worship a certain day, eat only certain foods,… Continue reading

Hebrews 12

Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
